Community Economic Resiliency Initiative

In 2023, Choctaw was awarded the CERI grant from the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG). The CERI program provides practical planning assistance for towns and cities. The Institute for Quality Communities at the University of Oklahoma conducted surveys, evaluated the area, and collaborated with the CERI planning committee to develop a comprehensive plan for the 23rd Street Corridor, also known as Historic Highway 62. Completed in May 2024, this plan is rooted in extensive local research and inclusive engagement with residents and stakeholders. The plan emphasizes economic vitality, safety improvements, enhanced accessibility, and a strong community identity.
