The Finance Department is responsible for managing the City’s fiscal operations, ensuring financial stability, and supporting the overall financial health of the community. The City Treasurer, appointed by the City Manager, leads the Finance Department and keeps the City administration informed about financial matters, including revenues, investments, and expenditures. The department oversees accounting, purchasing, payroll, and data processing functions to maintain transparency and efficiency in the City's financial practices..

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the City Treasurer, the Finance Department performs a range of vital tasks, including:

  • Serving as the City’s Investment Officer

  • Managing the City’s cash flow and cash management program

  • Assisting department heads with budget planning and oversight

  • Handling accounts payable processes

  • Providing monthly financial reports to the City Manager and City Council

  • Verifying all outgoing deposits and ensuring accuracy

  • Generating purchase orders for necessary City purchases

  • Coordinating both internal and external audits

  • Overseeing and documenting all transactions across City funds
