Road construction started yesterday on Reno Avenue from Henney to Hiwassee. Residents north and south will still be able to gain access to the area. In addition, Choctaw Nicoma Park School Buses will continue their morning and afternoon routes for students in this area. Construction is expected to last 45 days, weather permitting.

It has been a very long wait for the City of Choctaw residents, but the first section of road construction will begin tomorrow! We have signed a contract with Oklahoma County to begin the tear up and repavement of Reno Ave. from Hiwassee to Henney. Please avoid this section of road unless you are a resident within that section. Please be patient as weather can impact the timeline. Please obey traffic and construction signs. Do not drive around or move barriers.

Oklahoma Highland Gathering will be coming to Choctaw October 20th - 22nd at Choctaw Creek Park! The 2023 Oklahoma Highland Gathering is an annual Scottish festival that is organized by the United Scottish Clans of Oklahoma and features a variety of activities such as IHGF-sanctioned highland games, pipes and drums, folk and modern Celtic bands, highland dancing, Gaelic lessons, Viking reenactments, clan tents and ancestry resources, food trucks, local breweries, whisky tastings, vendors, blacksmithing, lace tatting, highland cattle (hielan coos) and more. The festival will kick off on Friday night with a fire ceremony (also known as the âcalling of the clansâ) followed by a traditional ceilidh, a celebration with folk music, singing, dancing, and storytelling.
